Pattern!

This was a 'slam' assignment or, in other words, something that is done quickly and to the best of your ability. This design was done using the word 'pattern' as inspiration in Adobe Illustrator. I knew that there were patterns already pre-programmed for use, so my main consideration was where to put them, and how to make them interesting and appealing.
I began to use the shape tool to draw one large rectangle, and then smaller ones inside of it, filling each with a different pattern and trying to keep a somewhat harmonious/cohesive color scheme. Then, to contrast the pure bright patterns I created various shapes in black and white and arranged them on the patterns. Then, to add some final interest, I used the flare tool to add the white spots in the middle and the darker ones behind the patterns.

In honor of the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary, here is a painting of an exploding tardis! The Pandorica Opens - Doctor Who Fan Art by Talisaurus
This is one of the designs I made of academy t-shirts for my school. This one features the engineering academy. I made this working in Adobe Illustrator. To fit with this subject, I used the pen tool to make gears and then used graphic effects to create the metal texture. For the background I used a certain graphic effects brush and for the words I just used the type tool and added effects.

here's a cool example of landscape architecture!
This is a landscape that I created in Adobe Photoshop. My assignment was to create an image based on a landscape that inspires me, so I chose a river. There is a trail leading to the Cahaba river close to my house, and I walked down it quite a lot as a child. I remember always feeling at peace there, so I figured it would be a great landscape to recreate.
I first drew a sketch in pencil and then scanned it in to use as the base for my image. Afterwards I used a soft-edged brush to fill in the basic areas that my different elements would occupy. Then I drew in my trees and used special effects brushes to finish up the composition, adding leaves, grass, etc.
