Trees!

I finally finished my latest series! It's trees in the different seasons done on small canvasses. These were done using oil pastels along with blending stumps. I spent a while working on them and I think I like the way they turned out!

"Cinnamon" Project

This piece was inspired by Neil Gaiman's short story, "Cinnamon". It's about a girl who is blind and refuses to speak, so her parents, the Rajah and Rani, promise their daughter to anyone who can get her to talk. Many try and fail, but one day a tiger comes along and succeeds, so the girl then goes with the tiger into the forest.
So this is me, I painted my face to represent both the girl and the tiger, then used photoshop to add in some special effects and finishing touches.

Street Art Inspired Project

So here's something I made for a street art prompt... I love music so I thought I would include song lyrics. This song actually makes me sad, so I decided to do something bright and fun with it.... I created my own graffiti font and put down guidelines in pencil, then went back over everything with different types of marker. I hope you can all find the last word, some people didn't get it!

This is from a series of portraits a man did of his daughter in the style of classic paintings. I'll be posting another of my favorites from the series because this is just so cute!

Colorful Pastel Art

I found some art done with pastels and colored pencils. I think it's a beautiful display of color and abstract shape!

Olympic Nail Art!

So here is some nail art I did for the Winter Olympics! I wanted to post this because this is not commonly thought of as a form of art, but it's probably the one I do most frequently, as I try to do different nail art each week! I love the Olympics and look forward to them whenever they come around. I think they represent just how much people can do! The dedication of the athletes is amazing... I can't even fathom practicing as much as they do!

Anyways, I did this in about half an hour, wasn't too difficult. The hardest part was just keeping my hand steady enough to do the numbers and letters, which I did with a striper brush. I also did a snowflake on the bottom thumbnail, but it's not too clear in this picture. I finished off the top hand with a silver and blue gradient done by striping those colors onto a sponge and stamping it on the ends.
